Dr. Luis Tolento Cortes was born In Vallejo, California and grew up in Fairfield, California. He graduated from the University of California, Davis with a Bachelor of Science in Pharmaceutical Chemistry and a minor in Exercise Biology. He completed his Doctor of Pharmacy degree at California Northstate University. His professional interests include critical care and infectious disease. Outside of pharmacy, he enjoys learning languages, traveling, weightlifting, and watching anime.
Learning Objectives:
Upon successful completion of this application-based course pharmacists should be able to:
- Interpret the relevant studies assessing different anticoagulants used in developing recent treatment guidelines
- Identify differences between therapeutic class-related outcomes in the management of pulmonary embolism (PE)
- Evaluate clinical scenarios in which the use of a thrombolytic may be indicated for the management of PE
- Compare and contrast the available thrombolytic therapies in the management of unstable acute PE
- Define the benefits of dedicated rapid response teams in the management of acute PE
