Loma Linda University Post-Graduate Year 1 Pharmacy Residents

Monica Awad, PharmD

Dr. Monica Awad grew up in Placerville, California where she received her Bachelor of Science in Cell Biology at the University of California: Davis. She then attended Loma Linda University School of Pharmacy where she completed her Pharm D in May 2017.  Her current clinical interests include Infectious Disease, Critical Care, and Pediatrics. Outside of pharmacy, Monica enjoys hiking, playing tennis, watching movies, and spending time with family and friends.

Noel Chan, PharmD

Dr. Noel Chan is from Rowland Heights, CA. She attended the University of California, Berkeley where she received a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Toxicology. Subsequently, she attended the Loma Linda University School of Pharmacy where she received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Her clinical interests include oncology, internal medicine, and diabetes. She enjoys finding opportunities to optimize a patient's medication regimen. In her free time, she enjoys experimenting with new recipes and baking.

Melissa Gage, PharmD

Dr. Melissa Gage grew up in Glendale, California. She attended Pacific Union College where she earned her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry, with an emphasis in Chemistry and completed her Doctorate of Pharmacy at Loma Linda University. Her current interests lie in the areas of oncology, pediatrics, and critical care. Melissa also enjoys staying involved in professional organizations and mentoring pharmacy students. Outside of pharmacy, she likes to cook, eat, travel, Crossfit, and spend time with family.

Jennifer Kang, PharmD

Dr. Jennifer Kang was born in South Korea and spent four years of her childhood in New Zealand. She subsequently moved to Fullerton, California and completed her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at University of California, San Diego and Doctor of Pharmacy at Loma Linda University School of Pharmacy. Her current interests include cardiology and psychiatric pharmacy. Upon completion of the PGY1 program, Jennifer plans to pursue PGY2 training to practice as a clinical pharmacy specialist. Outside of pharmacy, Jennifer enjoys playing video games, watching movies, and trying new and exciting foods from all over the world.

Jane Lee, PharmD

Dr. Jane Lee grew up in Orange County, California. She received her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology at the University of California, Riverside and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Midwestern University, Chicago College of Pharmacy. Her professional interests include infectious diseases, critical care, cardiology, and academia. Outside of pharmacy, she enjoys traveling, outdoor activities, and spending time with her friends and family.  

Susan Lee, PharmD

Dr. Susan Lee was born in Los Angeles, California and grew up primarily in Downey, CA.  She moved out to Orange County to complete her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences at UC Irvine and later received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Loma Linda University School of Pharmacy.  Her current clinical interests include pediatric critical care, transplant medicine, and oncology.  Upon completion of her residency training, Susan hopes to become a competent and well-rounded clinical pharmacist in any pharmacy setting.  In her spare time, Susan enjoys reading, hiking, and playing tennis.  

Elhaam Mesghali, PharmD 

Dr. Elhaam Mesghali is originally from Culver City, California. She attended University of California, Irvine where she received her Bachelors of Science in Public Health and graduated from University of the Pacific School of Pharmacy in May 2017. Dr. Mesghali comes from a family of predominantly teachers and professors where she too has a very strong passion for academia. Upon completion of her PGY-1 she plans on pursuing a faculty position and is very eager to educate the next generation of pharmacists. Her other professional interests include Emergency Medicine, Infectious Diseases and a new found passion for Pediatrics. In her spare time, she enjoys traveling, Netflixing into the wee hours of the night and spending time with her loud Persian family. 

Jessel Villegas, PharmD

Dr. Jessel Villegas left her small hometown of Walnut, California to get her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences at the University of California, Irvine. She then returned home to receive her Doctor of Pharmacy at the Western University of Health Sciences – College of Pharmacy in Pomona, CA. Thanks to Loma Linda University, she was granted the privilege to pursue her aspiration of becoming a clinical pharmacist in an interprofessional setting. Her clinical interests include Critical Care and Infectious Diseases, though is excited to explore the other pathways of pharmacy as a PGY1 Pharmacy Practice resident. Based on her experiences and completion of this PGY1, she hopes to continue to excel in her career as a PGY2 resident. Outside of pharmacy, Jessel enjoys hanging out with friends, checking out new museum exhibits, and seeking out new experiences. One of her future life goals is to get a puppy, though the species is still up for discussion.

Bert Matsuo, PharmD

Dr. Bert Matsuo was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii where he received his Bachelor of Arts in Biology at the University of Hawaii at Mānoa and Doctorate of Pharmacy from The Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy at the University of Hawaii at Hilo.  He completed his PGY-1 Pharmacy Residency at Loma Linda and is staying on to continue a PGY-2 in Cardiology. Outside of pharmacy, Bert enjoys cooking, playing tennis, traveling, outdoor activities, and spending time with family and friends.

Jane Litwak, PharmD

Dr. Jane Litwak was born in Seoul, Korea and grew up in Cerritos, CA since she was 10 years old. She received her Bachelor of Science in Biology from the University of California, Los Angeles, and her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Midwestern University, College of Pharmacy-Glendale in Arizona. She then completed her PGY1 pharmacy practice residency at Stanford Health Care in Stanford, CA. Her professional interests include trauma/surgical ICU, infectious disease, emergency medicine, and academia. In her free time, she enjoys watching films (documentaries are her favorite!), hiking, and traveling.

Loma Linda University Post-Graduate Year 2 Informatics Pharmacy Resident

Christopher Lin, PharmD

Dr. Christopher Lin grew up in Cleveland, Ohio before moving to Arcadia in sunny Southern California. He stayed in the area to receive his Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry at University of California, Los Angeles and continued on to receive his Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of California, San Diego. He then journeyed to the Pacific Northwest to complete his PGY1 Pharmacy Residency with Providence Health & Services at its Portland-area medical centers before returning to Southern California to complete his PGY2 residency in Pharmacy Informatics at Loma Linda University. His professional interests include population management and the integration of technology and best practice strategies to streamline and improve clinical efficiency and practice. In his free time, Dr. Lin enjoys a good book and the occasional game of tennis when not planning cultural excursions through discovering new and exciting foods and various travel adventures, including recent trips to Malaysia and Japan.

Leilani Isozaki, PharmD

Dr. Leilani Isozaki was born and raised in Torrance, California.  She attended the University of California, Irvine where she received her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences and subsequently attended The Daniel K. Inouye College of Pharmacy at the University of Hawaii at Hilo where she received her Doctorate of Pharmacy and Bachelor of Arts in Pharmacy Studies.  Dr. Isozaki completed her PGY1 training at Loma Linda University.  Her current clinical interests are in the fields of emergency medicine, critical care, medication safety, and ambulatory care.  Dr. Isozaki also enjoys staying involved in professional organizations.  Outside of pharmacy, Dr. Isozaki values spending time with family and friends, participating in sports, swimming, biking, traveling, and exploring nature.

Kiwon Park, PharmD

Dr. Kiwon Park is originally from Millcreek, Washington. She received her PharmD from Loma Linda University School of Pharmacy.  She completed PGY1 Pharmacy Residency at Loma Linda and is staying on to continue her PGY2 Oncology Pharmacy Residency.  She enjoys spending time going on food adventures, traveling, and cheering for her favorite sports teams especially her Seattle Seahawks! 

Loma Linda University Post-Graduate Year 2 Pediatrics Pharmacy Resident

Sheng Ma, PharmD

Dr. Sheng Ma is from Morgantown, West Virginia and earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree at West Virginia University. During his PGY-1 residency at WVU Medicine, he developed a passion in caring for the pediatric population and is currently pursuing a PGY-2 in pediatrics at Loma Linda University. His clinical areas of interest include pediatric hematology/oncology and neonatal intensive care. His career goal is to practice as a clinical specialist at a large academic medical center with opportunities to precept and mentor pharmacy students and residents. In his free time he enjoys exploring Southern California's culinary delights, outdoor adventures, and automotive sports. 

Loma Linda University Infectious Disease Pharmacy Fellow (Year 1)

Emily Limberg, PharmD

Dr. Emily Limberg is originally from North Royalton, Ohio. She graduated from Ohio Northern University with her Doctorate of Pharmacy degree and went on to complete her PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. Her area of interest is primarily infectious diseases, particularly in immunocompromised populations, but she also likes critical care and cardiology. Upon completion of her fellowship, Dr. Limberg would like to obtain a position as an infectious disease specialist in an academic medical center where she can continue to be involved in research as well as precept students and residents. In her free time, she enjoys reading, watching TV, and spending time with family and friends.

Howard Siu, PharmD

Dr. Siu is originally from the San Francisco Bay area in Northern California. He went through the accelerated PharmD program at the University of the Pacific in Stockton where he graduated in 2015. Afterwards he completed his PGY-1 residency at Mercy Medical Center in Redding, CA. His interests in pharmacy include infectious diseases and other fields, such as critical care and oncology. In his free time, he likes to travel, watch TV, and play racquetball, golf, ping pong, and computer games.
