Loma Linda University Post-Graduate Year 1 Pharmacy Residents

Amy Hoang, PharmD

Dr. Amy Hoang grew up in Orange County, California and attended University of California, Irvine where she received her Bachelors of Science in Biological Sciences. She then moved to Illinois to complete her Doctor of Pharmacy degree at Midwestern University – Chicago College of Pharmacy. Her clinical interests include pediatrics, critical care, and academia. During her PGY-1 at Loma Linda she hopes to become a well-rounded clinical pharmacist who is able to provide quality patient-centered care. In her free time, Amy enjoys baking, modern calligraphy, and running half-marathons.

Hyeree Jang, PharmD

Dr. Hyeree Jang was born in South Korea and came to America after completing a Bachelor of Science degree in Pharmacy at Sahmyook University College of Pharmacy. She then attended the College of Pharmacy at Western University of Health Sciences where she received her PharmD. Her clinical interests include critical care, oncology, and research. She is very happy to join LLUMC to help patients as well as interact with students. She is looking forward to developing valuable relationships. Outside of pharmacy, she enjoys traveling, hiking, hanging out with family and friends, cooking (especially Korean food), and watching Netflix.  

Jenny Ly, PharmD

Dr. Jenny Angela Ly was born and raised in Orange County, California. She grew up in the small town of Placentia and has lived there ever since. She completed the six-year accelerated Doctor of Pharmacy program at University of the Pacific in Stockton, California. Her professional interests include emergency medicine, critical care, infectious diseases and cardiology. She has a strong passion for mentoring pharmacy students, staying professionally involved and advocating for our profession. She has been blessed to have a strong support system along with dedicated mentors, and hopes to one day pay it forward. Her career goal is to practice as a clinical pharmacist at an academic medical center with plenty of opportunity to precept students and residents. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, playing tennis, reading, baking, traveling, spending time with loved ones and eating lots of delicious food!

Kevin Mai, PharmD

Kevin Mai is a PharmD graduate from Western University of Health Sciences and received his Bachelors in Chemistry at University of California Irvine. During pharmacy school, Kevin was heavily involved in APhA-ASP, serving at the local, regional, and national level. His clinical interests lie in solid organ transplant, ambulatory care, and infectious diseases, though, this is subject to change. His long-term professional goal is to pursue academia. Currently, Kevin works as the sole PGY1 male amongst his wonderful, inspiring female coresidents in pharmacy. His personal hobbies include pin trading at Disneyland, writing spoken word poetry, modern dance, and serving as an adult leader in the Boy Scouts of America.

Lani Nguyen, PharmD

Dr. Lani Nguyen was born in San Diego, CA and grew up primarily in Riverside, CA. She completed her Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry at the University of California, Riverside and later received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree from Western University of Health Sciences – College of Pharmacy in Pomona, CA. Her current clinical interests include infectious diseases, cardiology, and psychiatric pharmacy. Outside of pharmacy, she enjoys cooking, eating, traveling, and trips to Disneyland.

Rachel Ryu, PharmD

Dr. Rachel Ryu was born and raised in southern California. After high school, she ventured out to the east coast to complete her education at a 6-year Pharm.D. program at the University of Rhode Island College of Pharmacy. Her professional interests include oncology, cardiology, and academia. She plans to pursue a PGY-2 for specialized training, as well as obtain board certification. As a clinical pharmacist, she hopes to work closely alongside pharmacy students in their didactic and experiential education. Outside of pharmacy, she enjoys discovering new coffee shops, trying new foods, going to the beach, spending time with family and friends, and playing with puppies.

Vanessa Tran, PharmD 

Vanessa Tran received her PharmD alongside her Masters in Health Informatics from Loma Linda University. Vanessa’s clinical interests include critical care, emergency medicine, transitions of care, and informatics. Outside of pharmacy, Vanessa’s personal hobbies consist of graphic design, baking, and exploring new places to eat. As an alumnus, Vanessa is excited about contributing back to the school of pharmacy!

Wenye Yang, PharmD

Dr. Wenye Yang was born in China, but spent the majority of her life in Maryland. She received her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at University of Maryland, College Park and her Doctor of Pharmacy at University of Maryland School of Pharmacy. To pursue her career and PGY1 residency, she picked up her life and moved from the East Coast to join sunny California. Her professional interests include pediatrics, oncology and ambulatory care. Outside of pharmacy, she has a passion for makeup, Harry Potter, and Disney/Pixar. She also enjoys traveling, eating, and dancing.

Jennifer Kang, PharmD

Dr. Jennifer Kang was born in South Korea and spent four years of her childhood in New Zealand. She subsequently moved to Fullerton, California and completed her Bachelor of Science in Chemistry at University of California, San Diego and Doctor of Pharmacy at Loma Linda University School of Pharmacy. Upon completion of the PGY2 program, Jennifer plans to pursue opportunities in academia or practice as a clinical pharmacy specialist. Outside of pharmacy, Jennifer enjoys playing video games, watching movies, and trying new and exciting foods from all over the world.

Jessel Villegas, PharmD

Dr. Jessel Villegas left her small hometown of Walnut, California to get her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences at the University of California, Irvine and her Doctor of Pharmacy at the Western University of Health Sciences – College of Pharmacy in Pomona, CA. Thanks to Loma Linda University, she was doubly-granted the privilege to pursue her dream of becoming a clinical pharmacist in an interprofessional setting as both a PGY1 and PGY2 resident. Outside of pharmacy, Jessel enjoys hanging out with friends, checking out museum exhibits, and going to arts/music festivals. One of her future life goals is to get a puppy, though the poodle-mix breed is still up for discussion.

Anthony Liem Vo, PharmD

My name is Anthony Vo, I was born and raised in Orange County, CA. I received my Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Irvine then went on to receive my Doctorate of Pharmacy from the University of Southern California. I continued on at USC to complete a PGY-1 Community-Based Pharmacy Practice Residency and transitioned into my current position as a PGY-2 resident in Pharmacy Informatics at Loma Linda University. Professionally, I want to be a part of the continual integration of technology into the healthcare spectrum to produce optimal clinical and safety outcomes for patients. Personally, I enjoy exploring new food spots, traveling, going to the movies, and doing activities with family and friends such as going to Disneyland, doing an escape room, or having a paint night.

Deseree Reyna, PharmD

Dr. Desereé A. Reyna was born and raised in McAllen, Texas.  She attended the University of the Incarnate Word, for both Pre-Pharmacy studies and her Doctorate of Pharmacy degree.  Dr. Reyna completed her PGY1 training at Baylor Scott and White All Saints Fort Worth Medical Center.  Her current clinical interests are in the fields of critical care, medication safety, cardiology, and emergency medicine.  Outside of pharmacy, Dr. Reyna values spending time with family and friends, traveling, swimming, reading, and exploring museums.

John-Ericson Margallo, PharmD

Dr. John-Ericson (Eric) Margallo is originally from Los Angeles, CA. He received his Doctorate in Pharmacy from University of Southern California School of Pharmacy. He completed his PGY1 training in pharmacy practice at Cedars Sinai Medical Center and is now completing further pharmacy training to specialize in the field of hematology/oncology. He enjoys spending time with his loved ones, going on food adventures, rooting for the Los Angeles Lakers and travelling.

Elhaam Mesghali, PharmD

Dr. Elhaam Mesghali is originally from Culver City, California. She attended University of California, Irvine where she received her Bachelors of Science in Public Health and graduated from University of the Pacific School of Pharmacy in May 2017. Dr. Mesghali comes from a family of predominantly teachers and professors where she too has a very strong passion for academia. She successfully completed her PGY-1 training at Loma University Medical Center and has decided to continue her training as a PGY-2 in Pediatrics. Upon completion of her pediatrics training she plans on pursuing a clinical position and is very eager to educate the next generation of pharmacists. Her other professional interests include a strong passion for Emergency Medicine and General Pediatrics practice. In her spare time she enjoys traveling, Netflixing into the wee hours of the night, maintain her Sephora VIB Rouge status and spending time with her loud Persian family.

Susie Park, PharmD

Dr. Susie Park is originally from Columbia, MD. She attended University of Maryland School of Pharmacy in Baltimore, Maryland where she received her Doctor of Pharmacy degree. Afterwards, she completed her PGY-1 residency at Sibley Memorial Hospital in Washington, DC. Outside of pharmacy Susie enjoys cooking, exploring Southern California, and playing with her sister’s two rescue dogs.

Loma Linda University Infectious Disease Pharmacy Fellow (Year 2)

Emily Limberg, PharmD

Dr. Emily Limberg is originally from North Royalton, Ohio. She graduated from Ohio Northern University with her Doctorate of Pharmacy degree and went on to complete her PGY1 Pharmacy Practice Residency at the Cleveland Clinic in Cleveland, Ohio. Her area of interest is primarily infectious diseases, but she also likes critical care and cardiology. Upon completion of her fellowship, Dr. Limberg would like to obtain a position as an infectious disease specialist in an academic medical center where she can continue to be involved in research as well as precept students and residents. In her free time, she enjoys reading, watching TV, and spending time with family and friends.
