The RIS Rx (“pronounced RISE”) Pharmaceutical Services Fellowship program is a unique opportunity for new pharmacy graduates or existing pharmacists to gain hands-on experience in managed care, pharmaceutical hub services, reimbursement, patient affordability programs, business development, and management with fellow pharmacists and executive leadership team members. Our one-year fellowship, in partnership with Loma Linda University School of Pharmacy, involves ensuring no patient is left behind by focusing on patients' access, affordability and speed to therapy.  

At RIS Rx, mentorship is vital in helping the fellow reach their full potential and have a positive fellowship experience. 

RIS Rx Pharmaceutical Services Fellowship Goals

  • Enhance knowledge of pharmacy landscape as it pertains to pharmaceutical hub support, managed care, reimbursement, and clinical support.
  • Improve verbal and written communications with stakeholders and team members as a foundation for future endeavors. 
  • Increase understanding of pharmaceutical manufacturers’ needs and how to interact to meet deliverables and service level agreements. 
  • Gain an understanding of copay assistance and patient affordability program management and administration.
  • Implement expertise from fellowship modules to the expansion of RIS Rx’s healthcare technology solutions.
  • Receive training in Adverse Event and Product Complaint reporting protocols.
  • Cultivate leadership traits and teamwork capabilities for a continued role at RIS Rx.
  • Develop strong project management abilities. 

Fellow Responsibilities 

  • Precept and mentor pharmacy students. 
  • Manage copay assistance programs to ensure access for patients to vital medications. 
  • Create and present slide decks aimed to engage pharmaceutical manufacturers and foster relationships between stakeholders. 
  • Assist in pharmacy auditing initiatives to ensure adherence to standards and regulatory requirements. 
  • Engage in benefits investigation and verification to assist patients in navigating the complex healthcare system.
  • Utilize data analytics for evidence-based decision-making. 
  • Engage in prior authorization management and coordination. 
  • Participate in clinical program implementation. 
  • Develop clinical communication skills.
