Jessica Harris, a third year pharmacy student, traveled to Brazil this summer with a SIMS (Students for International Mission Service) group from Loma Linda University. Her cohort worked with local missionaries to serve villages along the Amazon River. The communities have limited access to medical care, so Jessica and her team provided healthcare, helped with construction projects, and supported household needs. As part of the pharmacy team, Jessica prepared medications, offered counseling, and worked alongside other providers. She and her group also painted the home of a sweet, elderly woman and handed out food packages to families in need. See more photos on Instagram.
Jessica says, “I went into this trip just wanting to give back, but I ended up learning so much about humility, kindness, and what it really means to serve. Plus, the friendships and memories made along the way were the best part!”
We praise God for His blessings of relationships, wisdom, and meaningful work for Jessica’s team and the people they served.
