Hogue
By School of Pharmacy - June 12, 2023

With mixed emotions, we announce the departure of our esteemed Dean, Michael Hogue, from the School of Pharmacy. The American Pharmacists Association has selected him as their new Chief Executive Officer and Executive Vice President, effective July 2023.

Houge became Dean of the School of Pharmacy in January 2019, immediately becoming an integral part of the University community. Under his leadership, the school has advanced the pharmacy field in significant ways, including additional clinical contracts for the faculty, innovative research initiatives, and expanded community outreach. His efforts have left the School of Pharmacy well-positioned for future success in these areas.

His leadership in 2021 was vital during our COVID-19 vaccination efforts on campus and throughout San Bernardino County. We are confident Hogue will continue his significant contributions to the pharmacy profession in his new position.

Richard Hart, MD, DrPH, president of Loma Linda University Health, said Houge’s dedication to the pharmacy field and commitment to improving the health and well-being of patients is an inspiration.

“On behalf of the entire Loma Linda University Health community, I express our sincere gratitude to Michael for his leadership, vision, and unwavering commitment to our mission,” Hart said. We wish him all the best in his new role and look forward to continued collaboration with him in his new capacity.”

Kyle Sousa, PhD, will serve as acting Dean beginning on July 4 until we complete a search process and have a person to recommend for Dean.

“Kyle knows the school well and is well-equipped to provide leadership during this transition,” Hart said. “We wish Dr. Hogue well in his new responsibilities at APhA and appreciate the solid leadership team he leaves behind at the school.”
