LLUSP continues to celebrate some of our favorite people during this American Pharmacists Month! Today, we applaud the work of Dr. Raul Brewster, LLUSP alum from the Class of 2010.
"Like a majority of pharmacists early in our careers, I spent the first few years as a market pharmacist. Visiting different pharmacies in the Lancaster/Palmdale area for Walgreens, I was able to glean knowledge and learn from seasoned pharmacists. After gaining experience, I transferred to the Monterey Peninsula where I became the pharmacy manager at the only 24-hour pharmacy in the area. During that time, I grew the pharmacy business and had the opportunity to mentor and teach the future of our profession.
With the desire for more time to dedicate to furthering my learning, I stepped away from serving as a pharmacy manager and took a staff pharmacist position with CVS. It was during this time I studied and became a board-certified pharmacotherapy specialist. This afforded me more opportunities within the pharmacy profession, which led to my current position as a clinical pharmacist for Credena Health Pharmacy (part of Providence Health and Services) in Washington state. Working in an outpatient facility serving the local community, I am now able to utilize a robust CDTA to better care for our patients. Having the ability to view patient charts, labs, messages, etc. has allowed me to make a positive impact on our patients’ health. I am hopeful that at some point in the near future, all pharmacists will have this level of access in order to better serve our patients."
