Pharmacy Practice Residency - Research Projects

Goal 

To provide the resident with the experience of developing, conducting, and presenting a formal piece of research.


Objectives 

  1. To identify and select a project and preceptor by the established deadline 
  2. To submit a written project proposal according to the established deadlines 
  3. To obtain IRB approval from the appropriate institution(s) 
  4. To complete the project according to the established timeline 
  5. To present the completed project to the faculty, staff, and other residents 
  6. To present the completed project at a state or national pharmacy meeting 
  7. To publish the project results (optional, but highly encouraged)

Timeline

  • August – September – Select a research topic and preceptor 
  • October – November – Complete the IRB approval process 
  • December – March – Complete data collection
  • February – Submit abstract to Western States Residency Conference
  • April – Present completed project to faculty, staff, students, residents
  • May – Present completed project at Western States Conference 
  • June – Prepare manuscript in complete format for publication in a journal and submit to the Chair, Department of Pharmacy Practice
