Dr. Diana Chui Ching Yeung, LLUSP Class of 2012, (third from right) just returned from Angelus Oaks, where she served on the team of medical staff at Camp Conrad Chinnock. "It was a humbling and eye-opening experience. Despite over a decade of ambulatory care practice managing primarily adults with type 2 diabetes, this was my first opportunity to care for children with type 1 diabetes, which presented a younger and uniquely challenging population. For six days, alongside pharmacy students, faculty, and a multidisciplinary team, we staffed the Camp Infirmary to ensure campers aged 7-12 could safely manage their diabetes while maximizing their camp activities. It was truly an experience of a lifetime, blending clinical care with profound personal growth."
For more than a decade, LLUSP students, faculty, and alumni have volunteered to serve at the camp specially dedicated to adults and children with type 1 diabetes and their families. While there, the medical staff help diabetic campers by teaching them self-management skills in a fun and interactive setting and ensure they get the most of the recreation and social opportunities the camp offers.
We're proud of our 2025 group of LLUSP volunteers at the camp this year and particularly grateful for the additional help provided by Dr. Yeung.
