At Loma Linda University School of Pharmacy, we are committed to fostering a diverse, inclusive environment where students feel a sense of community and belonging. Our mission is to educate and empower future pharmacists to excel in whole-person care while celebrating their achievements and providing the resources needed for success in the Doctor of Pharmacy program.

The Community Benefit Scholarship supports LLU graduate students from underrepresented minorities in the Inland Empire pursuing degrees in healthcare. Its goal, "to improve economic mobility through educational and workforce opportunities," aligns closely with the objectives of our Hispanic Center of Excellence in Pharmacy (HCEP).

The Hispanic Center of Excellence in Pharmacy program—the first and only center of its kind funded by the U.S. Health Resources and Services Administration—aims to build a competitive applicant pool of Latino students, enhance retention and recruitment through financial support, strengthen academic performance via mentoring and academic services, and facilitate faculty and student research on health disparities.

This year, four of our HCEP scholars, Alejandro Mora (PY2), Katherine Reynaldo (PY3), Ana Lopez Zambrano (PY1), and Angelica Torres (PY1), have been awarded the Community Benefit Scholarship, each student receiving a total of $10,000. This funding includes $5,000 from the scholarship, matched by $5,000 from the HCEP. We are honored to support our students in their journey toward becoming pharmacists and celebrate their remarkable achievements. This recognition underscores our commitment to addressing health disparities and fostering the next generation of compassionate, culturally competent healthcare providers.
