LLUSP Associate Professor Dr. Ike de la Peña has been selected to receive a $70,000 sub-award as part of a $2.2 million NIH-funded grant. The project, titled “Development of High-Affinity and Selective Ligands as a Pharmacological Tool for the Dopamine D4 Receptor (D4R) Subtype Variants,” represents a significant step forward in neuropharmacological research.

Dr. de la Peña will collaborate closely with Dr. Comfort Boateng, a medicinal chemist and the principal investigator from High Point University in North Carolina. His role centers on conducting behavioral studies to evaluate novel D4 receptor ligands. These ligands hold promise as potential treatments for ADHD and other disorders associated with D4 receptor abnormalities. This partnership highlights the importance of interdisciplinary efforts in advancing therapeutic development and underscores Dr. de la Peña’s commitment to impactful research.

Please join us in congratulating Dr. de la Peña on this outstanding achievement.
