Upon successful completion of this knowledge-based course, pharmacists should be able to:

  1. Review the pathophysiology of sickle cell disease (SCD)
  2. Determine acute and chronic complications of SCD
  3. List the goals of treatment in SCD
  4. Evaluate the recent literatures on the newer therapies for SCD (disease-modifying therapies - voxelotor and crizanlizumb)
  5. Recommend the chronic management options available for SCD


To obtain 1.0 contact hour of continuing pharmacy education credit (0.1 CEU), attendees must participate in the live activities, and logon to the CEimpact website to complete the exam and evaluation.

  1. Click on and log in to CEImpact.
  2. If you are new to the site, click on Create an account before logging in.
  3. Enter the course code (provided at the end of the lecture) in the text box on the left-hand side of the screen and click Submit.
  4. Click on My Courses (on the left-hand side of the screen) to locate the course.
  5. Click on the course title to access the course.
  6. Complete the exam and evaluation as prompted and click Submit.
  7. The course will move to the Completed tab under My Courses.
  8. The CPE Statement of Credit will be available on CPE Monitor,
